About the event
Art Kibbutz and FED are presenting: The Oyven (Yiddish for oven), which reclaims the Jewish spirit of a communal oven. For centuries in villages from Poland to Morocco, communal ovens served as gathering points for a social exchange, where recipes and stories were swapped and cooperation strengthened. Our traveling mobile wood-fired Oyven is a platform for food, art and ideas where everyone is fed, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Come join us at Rosmarins in Monroe (NY) on Sunday, July 4 for an outdoor community-building event where we will share the experience of shaping, baking and sharing challah and other traditional foods while engaging in Jewish creativity, texts and dialogue. There will also be a performance by the band Dr. Ted and the Stone. This event is sponsored by Hakhel: The Jewish Intentional Communities Incubator.
Price: $18 / $10 for Rosmarins residents
Location: Monroe is Upstate, 39 minutes from the GWB, 1 hour from Manhattan. Location is accessible by vehicle only.
